The donation is to enable her seek medical attention.

The girl, Charline Tungbani, is reported to have not only natural disposal problem, but also suffering multiple disabilities including asthma, hard of hearing and blindness- a situation her grandmother is struggling to bear.

Alhaji Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive, handed over the cheque last Friday to Charline who has been with the condition since birth, and has not been provided with medical assistance due to lack of funds.

Charline is class-six pupil of Wa School for the Deaf and a native of Egu-Zeng, a suburb of Wa, the Upper West regional capital.

Alhaji Moomin said the Assembly deems it necessary to support the girl and her family because it was part of the Municipality’s objective to help needy and vulnerable in the society.

He said the girl has a very special condition and urgent help is needed adding that “as a first step to find out exactly what the situation is, she needs a certain amount of money for the preliminary investigation,” he said.

“When that is done and there is the need for further investigations and treatment, then the Assembly will now see how best we can come in to support”.

Madam Agness Tungbani, Charline’ grandmother, told the Ghana News Agency that, since the girl was born without a natural disposal opening it has been extremely difficult for the child to pass out stool normally.

The child requires several medical checkups but due to financial constraints, the family could not attend to those needs, she said.

“The child is now 13 years old, only one operation was done to perforate a hole in her for defecation, but this did not help much as the situation was reversed after a few years,” Madam Agnes said.

She said the biological mother of the girl ran away after she discovered that her daughter was without an anus to pass out stool in the natural process.

He expressed profound joy to the Wa Municipal Assembly and the Chief Executive for the support and called on other benevolent groups to come to their aid.

Hajia Laila Issah, the Municipal Gender Officer, who assists Charline and her grandmother urged called on mothers to stand by their children at all times.

Meanwhile, the Upper West Ghana News Agency has opened a donation book and called on philanthropic individuals and organisations to contribute in cash or in kind to support Charline undergo the necessary medical investigations and treatment.

Mr Dasmani Laary, the GNA Upper West Regional Manager, said the condition of Charline requires urgent medical attention she is a valuable human resource for the nation.

He said the GNA is ready to partner with individuals and organisations to support the girl to receive the necessary medical treatment to enable her pass stool naturally.
