Hawa Koomson discusses Agric Sector with Moroccan Minister for Agriculture
Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister and Caretaker Minister for Agriculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson held a meeting with the Moroccan Minister for Agriculture, Marine Fisheries, Rural Development and Forests, Prof. Mohammed Sadiki in Morocco.

Their discussions centered on fisheries-related issues in which the two countries depend for economic development.

Hawa Koomson requested assistance from Morocco in the following areas: training and equipping (including patrol boat and research vessel) in monitoring, control, and surveillance, training in gear technology and designs, training in aquaculture management, fish health, and disease management, support for small-scale women fish processors, support for flagship program “aquaculture for food and jobs”, training in fish stocks assessment and training in post-harvest management. 


She also mentioned the enormous investment opportunities in all segments of the fisheries and aquaculture value chain in Ghana to include, the establishment of a fish feed production plant, and the Production and supply of fiber to replace wooden canoes in the artisanal and semi-industrial fishing sub-sectors.

She expressed gratitude for the financial and technical support that the Government of Morocco has offered African States under the ATLAFCO Convention and pledged Ghana’s continuous role in the implementation of the ATLAFCO programs.
