The new Water Supply System will have its main source from the Tain River for distribution to Wenchi Municipality and surrounding areas. Other facility components of the project include Intermediate Booster Station, Ground Level Tank, Elevated Water Tank with the main Treatment Center to be stationed at Akrobi in Wenchi.

Apart from the Wenchi township, other targeted beneficiary communities on the main supply line are Wurompo, Awisa, Droboso, Beposo, Yoyoano, Asuano, Koase, Nkonsia, amongst others.

The Contractor for the project is ASPAC International of Belgium and the contract duration is 36 months.

The sod-cutting ceremony was in fulfillment of the future projects earlier disclosed and promised by the Municipal Chief Executive Dr Prince Kwakye Afriyie.

The project, which adds up to the over 30 newly drilled boreholes and 50 maintained ones, is seen as a big relief to the people of Wenchi as it will end the nightmare and water challenges being faced in some parts of the Municipality.

In 2008, a small water system was commissioned with 8 functional pumps under the Wenchi Water Management System. However, the number of pumps fell to 3 with GHC 33, 000 VRA debt by the close of 2016 into 2017. In 2018, the Community Water & Sanitation Agency (CWSA) paid the said debt during its Take-Over, and afterward, to date have made some gains.

In a related development, the President cut sod for Droboso - Agubie - Badu road, as part of creating access routes to link up the Municipality to other sister districts to expand the business/economic frontiers of the area.

President Nana Akufo-Addo also inspected ongoing government's legendary infrastructural Secondary School Improvement projects at Koase Senior High School. It includes dormitories, 2-Storey Administration Block, Dinning Hall, Classrooms, etc. giving the school a major facelift.
