The market is expected to increase the district's local economy and improve the living standard of its people, which was established by Osagyfo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah over sixty years ago but currently at terrible condition.

Mr Agyapong said, even though the market has not had a facelift for more than 60 years, it is still one of the most patronized and exciting markets in the district.

The market is surrounded by over 15 main farming communities, where farmers bring their produce to sell.

The place is expected to be completed in 6 months; and will have over 50 sheds and other amenities.

Speaking with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr. Agyapong charged the contractor of the market project, Master Hand Construction Company Limited, to make sure they complete it in six months.

The chiefs of Hweehwee, Nana Amoafo Boamah IV thanked Mr. Agyapong for constructing the market that they say will create a bigger opportunity for farmers in the area and also pledged their support to the Assembly to develop the area.

"We can now do more farming and produce more food to sell at our new market,” said Nana Amoafo Boamah IV.

The Chiefs and elders also expressed their appreciation to the Member of Parliament in the area Mr. Bryan Acheampong, for solving the Fulani threat within the area.
