Berekum West Assembly commissions classroom block and teachers’ bungalow

In a bid to bridge the infrastructural gap in the educational sector of the newly created Berekum West District, the education directorate has received a 3 unit classroom block and a 4 bedroom apartment to cater for the Junior High School Students and the Teaching Staff of Fetentaa Methodist School respectively.

Commissioning the projects, the Berekum West Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party who represented the District Chief Executive, Mr. Dominic Oppong thanked the Chief and Elders of Fetentaa for providing the Berekum West District Assembly a land for these buildings.

He also expressed his appreciation through the Coordinating Director, Mr. Charles Yaw Asamoah to the Berekum West District Assembly for building a classroom block and a Teachers’ quarters for the Fetentaa Community. Mr. Boampong said education remains a topmost priority to the government.

He said human resource development is key to the success of a country hence they are resolved to promote education within the district. Further to that, he said even though the district is relatively young, they were working assiduously to make education accessible and also promote quality teaching and learning within the district.

“The NPP government through the District Assembly is committed to making education accessible and promoting quality education. We will therefore see to it that the living conditions of teachers are improved. We will also make sure all dilapidated schools in the district are given a facelift.” - He said.

The Kontihene of Fetentaa, Nana Obeng Korang who also represented the Chief of Fetentaa also admonished the educational directorate, the teaching staff and students of Fetentaa Methodist School to take good care of the buildings. He also called on the DCE to give another helping hand to the Fetentaa Roman Catholic School since accommodation for their teachers is also in handy.

The District Education Director, Mr. David Owusu Ansah who received the keys to the buildings thanked the District Assembly and assured them of his continuous monitoring to ensure that the buildings do not get dilapidated.

The Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church, Jinijini Circuit, and Very Rev. Robert Benson Dapaah made a Christian prayer while Kyeame Amankwah Tia also poured libation before the commencement of the commissioning ceremony.

The community members who were present to witness this all important commissioning ceremony were happy and wished the buildings would be used for the intended purposes.
