Tema to get modern court complex
The Judicial Service is to pull down an over 30-year-old court structure and put a modern Court complex in the Tema Metropolis.

Currently, the court structure is in a dilapidated state and needs to be pulled down.

During a visit to the site, the Chief Justice, Ms Sophia A Akuffo tasked Mr Justice Alex Opoku Acheampong, the Judicial Secretary to quickly hold meetings with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GHAPOHA) so they could assist in putting up a modern court complex.

The Chief Justice was accompanied by Mr J.K Bannerman, Chief Registrar General Judicial Service, Mr Nii Boye Quartey, Director of Human Resource, and Mr Cyril Ablade, Director of Works.

Ms Akuffo said she was informed that GHAPOHA had earlier on expressed its readiness to assist in putting a new court complex.

“We need to do something about this, we don’t have to mix up the courts.” she added.

During the tour, the GNA observed that some squatters had put up wooden structures around the court complex.

Mr Acheampong said the judiciary would solicit for funds to put up an edifice for Tema adding ‘’this is a prime land and we are going to build a court complex to befit the status of Tema.”

The edifice when completed would house the District, Circuit and the High Courts in Tema.
