According to the Mr. Williams Kwaku Boateng, farm manager of AAPCL, completion of work on the factory which was earmarked for last year was hampered by the water-logged land resulting from incessant rains.

He said the company which falls under the ‘one district one factory’ initiative will soon take delivery of a final consignment of 7 forty-foot containers of equipment for the project.

A visit to the place saw ground and roofing works on the main structure being carried out by contractors while assorted equipment are on stand-by in readiness for installation once construction is completed.

The factory which has the production of ethanol and starch as it primary focus will employ over 12,000 people both directly and indirectly and will have the capacity to process 1200 tons of cassava daily.

To ensure an all year round production, the company is supporting about 3,000 out grower farmers in the cultivation of about 30,000 acres of cassava in addition to its own 16,000 acres to feed the factory.

The company has plans to venture into piggery to take advantage of the chaff from the processed cassava as well as cattle rearing to ensure the leaves from harvested cassava do not go to waste.
