Farmers receive 10,000 oil palm seedlings
The Obuasi East District Assembly through the Department of Agriculture has distributed 10,000 Oil Palm Seedlings to farmers under the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) initiative.

The PERD initiative is aimed at promoting rural economic growth to improve household incomes of rural farmers.

Mrs. Faustina Amissah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) in her address praised the Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo-led Government for its foresight in implementing such a programme.

She said the PERD programme is intended to accelerate development at the rural level and also commended the farmers for their hard work.


She stated that Oil Palm Plantation is one of the lucrative farm businesses that need to be tapped and urged the farmers to put out their best to feed the country.

He further assured farmers that the District is awaiting some additional seedlings for onward distribution to ensure that all registered farmers are given the seedlings.

The DCE indicated that extension officers will be in constant touch with the beneficiary farmers to ensure that the seedlings are used for their intended purposes.
