Launching the campaign, the acting municipal fire officer ADO I Francis Tetteh said the purpose of the launch is to sensitize the people on their responsibility to avoid indiscriminate bush burning that result in wild fires with the resultant destruction of life and property.

“The government’s vision of ‘planting for food and jobs’ cannot be achieved without fire volunteers”. He said.

ADO I Tetteh outlined the priorities of his outfit for the campaign season as: the recruitment and training of 500 fire volunteers, education through community film shows and durbars as well as radio talk shows.

He said a bushfire prevention patrol task force comprising his outfit, the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO and the Information Services Department will be on hand patrolling and monitoring all anti-bushfire activities in the municipality.

The fire boss commended the municipal chief executive Hon. Edward Owusu for his assistance for anti-bushfire activities in the municipality.
