Mampong MCE donates to PWDs
Thomas Appiah Kubi, Municipal Chief Executive of Mampong Municipal Assembly has donated items to 79 Persons with Disabilities in the Municipality.

Items given out include deep freezers, sawing machines, hair dryers, fufu machines, laptops, popcorn machines, oven, poly tank, mason tools, wheel chair, capentary tools, shoe grinding machines and school fees to some disabled students.

This is the first of it kind for giving such items. It is a departure from the cash disbursement to PWDs.

Mr. Thomas Appiah Kubi during the presentation said President Akufo Addo’s administration want people with disabilities to survive by being self-reliance hence the provision of capital assets to them to enable them get into economic ventures.



"When we give them money they will misuse it and later become dependant on their family members and the society at large", he said.

Mr Atta Gyamfi the Municipal Social Welfare Director said that the total number of People's With Disabilities in the Municipality is over One Thousand (1,000), so other members should exercise petaints, adding they will get their share in due time. He emphasised that as and when the source of funding comes they will present items to members.



One of the beneficiaries Mr Essum Attakora on behalf of the members expressed appreciation to President Akufo Addo and the MCE for the kind donation. They promised to make good use of the items they received. Mr Attakora pleaded with authorities to make sure other members with disabilities get their share as well.



The occasion was graced by Mrs. Genevieve T. Fusieni the Finance Officer Mampong Municipal Assembly, Rev. Akowuah Municipal Budget Officer, Miss Hannah Owusu Dwomoh Municipal Federation President, Hon Assembly Members and many others.
