AFRAM PLAINS N: Assembly to install LED-street bulbs
The Kwahu Afram Plains District Assembly in the Eastern Region is set to rehabilitate and ensure the conversion of existing streetlights into LED-controlled ones to help improve security in the area.

This was disclosed by District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr Samuel kena, at the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting held at Donkorkrom, the District capital.

Addressing a cross-section of Assembly Members and other Departmental Heads at the meeting, the DCE stated that: “To ensure that festivities are celebrated without any mishaps, the Assembly has considered the rehabilitation and conversion of the existing old streetlights to LED-controlled ones as a priority project that needs to be undertaken without delay”.

According to him, most communities in the district are in total darkness thus leading to petty thievery and other criminal activities by some unidentified persons.

He revealed that procurement process for project is currently is at an advanced stage and sooner than later the project will be awarded on contract.
