He said in the area of sanitation, the Dormaa Central Municipal assembly is making good its commitment to keeping the municipality clean at all times to avert any serious diseases outbreak.
To this end, the assembly has initiated a number of concrete steps to keeping a sound and hygienic environment first of all by dealing with disposal sites that were found to have posed danger to the health of the people.

Mr. Outtara told Ghanadistricts.com that three refuse dumps including KSD, Gyidiem, and the final dump site along the main Berekeum-Dormaa road that was almost taking over the road have been taken care of.
He added that the main focus of the assembly is to acquire new plot of land to relocate the final dump site to ensure safety of the people.

Additionally, the MCE said a major effort is also underway to increase the number of public toilets in the municipality while improving the state of existing ones. According to him, already, three toilet facilities at New Town, Atoase, and Tuesday Marketthat were awarded on contract earlier in the year have been completed and in use.

Meanwhile, contracts for the constructions of 10 more public toilets have been awarded, and all are geared towards environmental cleanliness and safety; since the absence of toilet facilities seriously affect the fight against open defecation.
