VRCC presented State of the Region Report
Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister presented a report on the state of the Region by providing updates on a number of developmental projects that are being undertaken by the government in the Region, especially in the areas of Health, Education, Roads, local Economic Development, Agriculture, and other infrastructure at the Ministry of Information in Accra.

In his address, the Regional Minister indicated that illegal sand mining in Keta and Ketu North municipalities are also a form of “galamsey” that must be dealt with. He said these illegal sand miners undertake these unscrupulous activities at dawn and wreaking havoc on the environment compelling the security to constitute taskforce to halt the practice.



He lamented that the sea defense was constructed to protect the Keta coast and it is now being undermined through sand mining, urging all stakeholders to join forces in order to fight the menace.

Dr. Letsa touched on developmental projects which have been embarked by the government in the past five years. He said the Eastern corridor road has been improved from 30 per cent to about 80 percent.


He indicated that Hohoe to Dodo Pepesu section of the road which was in a deplorable condition, as well as 62 km Nkwanta to Damanko section of the road has been improved, adding that Oti-Damako to Yendi road which was equally in terrible stat has received massive improvement.

He displayed pictorial evidence of project that has been worked on, in the area of Health, Agriculture, Education and other governmental policies which been embarked on in the Region.


The topic was dubbed, “update on Health, Education, and Agriculture”. Some dignitaries present was the Deputy Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, MMDCEs in the Volta Region, Acting Regional Director of Health, Dr. Senanu Dzokoto, Regional Director of Department of Urban roads Ing. Edward Annang, Regional Director of Feeder Roads Ing. Gregory Amissah Regional Director of highways Ing. Eric Dosu, Assistant director and PRO of RCC, amongst others.
