District Agric Census management team re-inaugurated

Tain District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region has re-inaugurated a four member District Management Team to oversee the successful conduct of the Ghana Census of Agriculture in the District in a brief ceremony held at the Assembly Hall.

The re-inauguration of the Team became necessary because the initial Team inaugurated in 2016 to oversee the data collection exercise in the District had some of its members going on transfer.

The four member Team comprises of the District Coordinating Director, Mr Kumi Achiaw as Chairman, The District Planning Officer, Mr. Gideon Awuah as secretary, District Director of Agriculture, Mr. S.Y Apiiga and the District Information Officer, Mr. Isaac Yeboah as members.

The Team would collect, process and disseminate information on agricultural structures and their state of development. The data would be collected from households and agricultural institutions on their agricultural activities namely; crop production, tree planting, fish farming, fishing and livestock rearing to assist policy makers in developing programmes.

Madam Charity Akua Oforiwaa Dwommoh, the District Chief Executive who inaugurated the Team said members would be responsible for coordination and implementation of programmes and ensure the provision of facilities for activities and operations of the census in the District.

The Team is also expected to ensure effective education and publicity as well as to facilitate information and dissemination and Facilitating to share and disseminate information to the indigenous people.

The DCE in her address expressed confidence of the Team, especially given the fact that, each and every member of the Team had the necessary experience in their various field of work and tasked the members of the Team to adhere to the objectives of the census to produce good results which would make agriculture attractive to the youth in the District for them to take farming as business.

The District Chief Executive said the overall objective of the census is to produce and disseminate complete reliable agricultural data to ensure effective policy making.

In his address, the chairman of the Management Team Mr. Kumi Achiaw thanked the Chief Executive for the confidence impose on the team. He gave the assurance of the team that, it shall be working hard towards the attainment of the set objectives as clearly spelt out.
