Nana made this passionate appeal in an interview at his palace to ghanadistricts.com ahead of this year's Abedru (Yam) Festival to be celebrated ending this Month October.
According to the Chief Akwamuman and for that matter Asuogyaman can boast of great potentials as far as Tourism is concerned "there are great potential for tourism in the Akosombo tourist area and for that matter Akwamuman. The Akosombo Dam, The Christiansburg Castle Keys at Akwamufie, New Akrade ancient Brass Pans, Akwamuman Forest Conservation Zone, Akomaning Bridge, beautiful Scenic Volta Revert Gorge and also the Sprawling of the Hotels and Resorts are quite an attraction to the whole country.
Unfortunately the only tourist boat in Ghana, the Dodi Princess that crown tourism in Akosombo, as the queen of the Volta River has been absent for several years. I would therefore urged government officials responsible to do all you can to let Dodi Princess sail once again".
According to the chief, the revival of the Dodi Princess will go a long way to boost the tourist attraction in the area which will attract and bring many investors into the district which will raise resources into the national coffers to spearhead developmental agenda of the district and the country as a whole.
Nana Okrukata V who was disturbed with the current chieftancy succession feuds which is on the rise in the country said he has the vision of championing the course of changing some traditional chieftancy arrangements regarding the tenure of Chiefs.
"I Nana Okrukata V has the vision of championing the course of changing some traditional chieftancy arrangements regarding the tenure of Chiefs. That chieftancy should not be for life but for a period of 15 years after which it must be rotate. This arrangement would stop the current chieftancy succession feuds which is on the rise in the country which he believes will give room to ensure good succession planning".
Nana Okrukata V then revealed the theme for this year's Abedru (Yam) Festival as "Sustaining Our Culture and Heritage Through Festival" appealing to the sons and daughters of the New Akrade community to make this year's Festival their priority, thus contributing their quota towards the construction of a medical center for the community.
He also commended government for the implementation of most government flagship programmes promised Ghanaians during the 2016 general elections.
"Let me take this opportunity to recommend the President Akufo Addo leg government for implementing most of his campaign promises, promised Ghanaians during the 2016 general elections. You promised Free Senior High School, One District One Factory, Free School Feeding Programme, Plainting for Food and Jobs among others, today most of these promises are fulfilled and I say Ayikoo".
