In view of this, a deputy Managing Consultant and a Sociologist from Accra, Madam Olivia Nana Esi Ahlijah facilitated a social and environmental impact assessment workshop held at the Assembly Hall of the Wulensi Senior High School following the World Bank consideration to construct the 10km feeder road from Woribogu to Egambo in the Nanumba South District.

According to Madam Ahlijah, the construction is an “Output based performance road construction” type where unlike the traditional road construction, this type of contract comes with ancillary infrastructure such as electricity, classroom blocks, provision of potable water for communities dotted along the road base on their priority.

It is also the case that the contractor takes care of the maintenance of the road for some time after construction before it is handed over.

The interactions were based on the role and relationship between the communities involved and the contractor.

A committee was suggested to be put in place to serve as liaison between the contractor and the local people to ensure a successful completion of the project.

Participating beneficiary communities including Wulensi Township were requested to line up their priority demands as per the aforementioned social amenities including: potable water, electricity, and school blocks among others.
