The Atiwa East District is one of the beneficiaries of Government’s first ten (10) TVET centres to be established which has duly been completed but yet to be operationalized.

But Speaking with Ghanadistricts.com, the DCE for the area said looking at the kind of machines that have been installed at the centre for students to acquire their practical lessons, it would be appropriate to get someone with a business mind to head the school to ensure efficient use of those facilities to help generate some income for the running of the school in a form of internally generated fund.

The DCE asserts that the equipment and machines that are made available in the various departments including carpentry, tailoring, electrical engineering are state of the arts; as such the institution can even be contracted to provide furniture for students and school uniforms.

Meanwhile, an appeal for the construction of dormitories for the school has received positive response and about two weeks ago, the sod has been cut for the construction of boys and girls dormitories for the school.

The DCE commended the President Nana Akufo-Addo for the honour done a new district which is barely five years in receiving this kind of support.

He hopes that by next year, it would be one of the schools to be considered to enroll students during which period the dormitory projects would have been completed.

Government is placing a lot of emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education to ensure that students acquire skills that make them self-employable with the hope of dealing with the unemployment situation in the country particularly among the youth and has made some significant investment in this regard.
