Asuogyaman District Assembly observes “My first day at school”
The Asuogyaman District Assembly yesterday observed My First Day at School with a call on parents to support government to achieve all its educational policies to help raise the standard of education in the district and the country at large.

This advice was given by the District Chief Executive of the area, Samuel Kwame Agyekum in an interview with ghanadistricts.com.

The exercise which is to monitor, welcome, encourage and motivate the newly admitted pupils into the basic school especially kindergarten one and primary one on the importance of education as the 2018/ 2019 academic year begins saw the DCE together with District Coordinating Director, District Education Director and the former Director General of Ghana Ports and Harbor Authority, Paul Asare Ansah visiting about six schools.

Among them include the Akwamu West Anglican Basic, Akosombo Wesley Methodist Basic, VRA Presby Basic, Akosombo Roman Catholic Basic and Tortibo D. A Basic Schools among others in the Akosobo A Circuit of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

"I wish to appeal to Ghanaians especially parents to support the Akufo Addo's educational reform policies that is being rolled out by the Ministry of Education in order for government to achieve its objectives of raising the standard of education in the country and making it accessible for all Ghanaian children of school going age in this country" the DCE appealed.



According to the DCE the newly introduced free Senior High School policy has paved way for many needy but brilliant students in the district to access the senior high education which he believes will lead to achieving the child aim of becoming someone prominent in the nearest future.

He added: "with all this interventions government can only succeed if parents play their active role expected of them by providing their learning materials like exercise books, pen, pencils, inspecting their homeworks, not allowing them to play around watching "kunkum barjia", among others and also once a while take the pain to visit your child in school to monitor his performance".

Mr. Agyekum then congratulated the teachers for their hard work in making sure the country produces leader who can manage the affairs of the motherland assuring them of government commitment of making teaching attractive to all Ghanaians.

The District Director of Education, Madam Mavis Yirenkye who appreciates the efforts made said the exercise will motivate the children to attend school regularly.

She then suggested that more of such initiatives should be implemented in order to get parents enroll their wards in the public schools

The kindergarten one pupil were refreshed with drinks and biscuits whiles the primary one pupils received an exercise books, pencils and erasers
