Unfortunately, some schools in the Sene East District in the Brong Ahafo Region are confronted with inadequate teachers to teach the students.

Speaking on Radio Gold, an Accra based radio station, District Chief Executive of the Sene East District, Francis Kofi Baah said a major challenge confronting the education sector in the Sene East District inadequate teachers.

According to him, the situation is due to refusal of teachers to accept posting to most of the communities because they are poor communities or are island communities that have difficulty with accessibility.

This notwithstanding, the DCE said he was hopeful that that discussions and appeals that have gone to authorities will yield positive results next academic year that will see more teachers in such deprived communities.

Mr. Baah also disclosed that another measure being taken to address the situation is to engage qualified SHS leavers from those communities to help in teaching the students. This, he said have been discussed with leaders of the communities. The expenses will however be borne by the district assembly and the Member of Parliament through the MP’s common fund.

He therefore appealed to teachers to accept posting to these communities as efforts are being made to improve basic amenities that will ensure the needed comfort for them.

He however said a lot has been achieved in providing schools with logistics that will boost sports, academic activities, and music among others. Among these include motorbikes.

There was also introduction of mock examination for JHS 3 students to prepare them adequately for the BECE, a practice he said would be maintained.
