OFFINSO: Offinsoman celebrates ‘Mmoaninko’ Festival
It was a great and colourful durbar as the people of Offinso celebrate the Mmoaninko festival to mark its 25 anniversary.

The festival which is celebrated annually mainly because the traditional area has experienced considerable progress during the reign of the current omanhene, Nana Wiafe Akenten III, being made possible through the atmosphere of unity and tranquillity prevailing in the area.

In his opening remark, Nana Wiafe Akenten III, Offinsomanhene pledged to never allow galamsey operators to mine in the municipality and applauded H. E Nana Akufo Addo on the ban on galamsey.



On his part, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah applauded the Offinsomanhene, Nana Wiafe Akenten III on his pledge to never allow gala sey operators in the municipality and rendered his support to him.

He also took the opportunity to carefully explain government’s flagship policies, such as; 1D1F, free SHS, one district one warehouse, planting for food and jobs, double track system of education, NABCO amongst others.



The Okyemanhene, Nana Amoatia oforipanyin rendered his vast support to the Asante hen, and explained that there’s no grudge between Asantehene and the Okyemanhene, adding that we are one people and urged all to stay in unity and peace.

Barima Tweneboa Kodua V, Kumawuhene who represented the Otumfuo Osei Tutu also encouraged all and sundry to help bring peace to offinso traditional council and to Asanteman.



The festival was very well attended by foreigners and natives.

Other Dignitaries present were, the member of Parliament for offinso North and Offinso South, MMDCEs from Offinso Municipal, Offinso North and Afigya Kwabre South, Nananom, Zongo chiefs, Queen mothers, heads of department, media and the general public.
