Ketu South distributes 3000 coconut seedlings to farmers
The Ketu South Municipal Assembly in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture has distributed 3000 coconut seedlings to farmers for planting as a strategic move to establishing a coconut oil factory in the Municipality as part of the one district one factory programme.

In all 44 farmers, 39 males and 5 females in 14 communities in the municipality benefitted from the programme.

The Assembly is also considering the establishment of coconut nursery as the supply base to support farmers who would want to go into the coconut cultivation. The move is also expected to provide employment for the youth.

The Municipal Chief Executive Elliot Edem Agbewornu disclosed this at this year’s farmers day celebration held at Kpoglu, a farming community in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region. It was on the theme,"Agriculture: Moving Ghana Beyond Aid"



In all 14 deserving farmers were honoured with various categories of awards including Deep Freezers, Cutlasses, Agro chemicals, Wellington boots as well as GTP cloths.

Madam Kudzonu Belief, a teacher at the Hedzranawo R.C Basic School was adjudged the best farmer. She took home a motorized tricycle, a DSTV decoder with 3 months subscription among others as her prize.



In attendance was the Municipal Chief Executive Elliot Edem Agbewornu, Heads of security agencies, chiefs of the area and two Paramount chief, Torgbi Adzongaga Amenya Fit V, paramount chief of the Aflao Traditional area and President of the Aflao Traditional Council and Torgbi Addo VIII, Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional area.
