10 Burkinabe Nationals arrested over illegal mining
The Juaboso District taskforce against illegal mining has arrested 10 Burkinabe nationals for engaging in illegal mining in the district.

The ten were arrested last Monday, July 23, 2018, on the Basinta River in Juaboso Township in an operation led by the District Chief Executive, Martha Kwayie Manu, and also comprising the District Police Commander, ASP Issac Kumnipa, operatives of the National Security in the district, the Star Gold Limited and the media.

The arrest was made right at an illegal mining site just behind the Juaboso District administration block.



In a related development, a group of galamseyers operating at Mintakrom near Bonsu Nkwanta in the Juaboso district were also chased out of their operation site leaving behind their items.


The suspects were identified as Issifu Wudrebo, 42; Wudrebo Issaka, 40; Sulley Wudrego, 28; Shirechi Porogo, 30; Miemkuba, 22; Sulemana Issifu, 23; Inusa Kamparo, 27; Issaka Porogo, 15; Mamudu Wudrebo, 15; and Seidu Abuba, 16.

The operations also led to the seizure of 11 motorbikes, a pick-axe and a number of shovels from the various sites.



The DCE explaining the circumstances leading to the arrest of the culprit, indicated that it was a result of a tip-off from some residents, and the team responded swiftly to apprehend them.

Meanwhile, the 10 suspects with he seized items are in the custody of the police for further action.
