Youth urged to embrace artisanship for self-employment

Youth Unemployment has been one major challenge facing Ghanaians youth after completing their tertiary education.

It also poses a major headache to successive governments who struggle to meet the unemployment rate by creating jobs to deal with overcrowded youth who are left with the only option of joining Unemployed Graduates Association hoping to secure a white color job.

For this reason, Madam Vivian Agbeko, the Chief Executive Officer of Pavico2020 Catering Service and Sugarcraft Institute has challenged the youth to go into artisanship since they can create job opportunities for themselves and stop depending on office work or relying on the government for jobs.

The Chief Executive Officer explained that "I established this institution with the motive of empowering the youth to get their own job and have a good standard of living, it is unfortunate for a country like Ghana to boost of unemployed youth association".

She disclosed this in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com during the 1st graduation ceremony held last Tuesday in Tema in the Greater Accra Region.

"Most of our youths are committing suicide because they are not employed and felt they are a liability to society, and there is nothing good in them meanwhile, these youth can enroll themselves in an artisanship which will go a long way to empower their standard of living and also to help reduce the rate of unemployment in the society".

The CEO advised the youth especially the university graduates not to feel too big to seek for support or engaging themselves with some trade to ease the burden on their shoulders as that is the only option to curtail unemployment in the country adding that people who go into artisanship are very brilliant and intelligent but not shallow-minded.

She seized the opportunity to advise fellow artisans to work on their customer relationship and marketing strategy as that is the only way business can grow.
