SUNYANI M: 9 communities earmarked for ‘Digni-Loo’ toilets
Nine (9) communities in the Sunyani Municipality have been earmarked under the Community-Led Total Sanitation programme to benefit from the construction of 400 newly improved toilet facilities known as ‘Digni-Loo’, a plastic toilet technology.

The beneficiary communities include Mensakrom, Yeboahkrom, Johnsonkrom, Asamoakrom, Mamprusi, Yawmiri, Nwawasu, Kyeremekrom and Kyirimogya.

The programme, according to information gathred, forms part of the World Bank’s strategy for Nations to achieve their Sanitation target under the Sustainable Development Goals through the sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation.

Disclosing this at an Assembly meeting, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Madam Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson explained that, the project is expected to expand access to, and ensure sustainable water supply and sanitation services in rural communities.

She revealed that the Sunyani municipality was fortunate to be among the 66 district and municipalities benefitting from the project in six regions across the country.

She stated that the main target of the project is to ensure improved sanitation especially open defecation free in implementing communities.

The MCE concluded by appealing to Assembly Members whose communities are beneficiaries, to encourage their electorates to make good use of the facility to improve upon the environmental sanitation of their respective communities.
