A 24 year SHS student goes into farming

Mr. Collins Adjei, a 24 year senior high school graduate from Kukuruamoa, a farming community in Tain District of Brong Ahafo region has ventured into farming since it has the tendency of ensuring his success.

Mr. Agyei who went into barbering after his senior high education due to financial difficulties to further his education at the tertiary level has now ventured into farming as a business to serve as security for his economic survival and development.

At the moment, the 24 year old Agyei Collins has 8 acres of inter crop farm made up of cashew and maize and 2 acres of land under preparation for cultivating tomatoes and pepper.

The District Chief Executive, Lawyer Charity Akua Foriwaa Dwommoh paid him a visit and was impressed with the decision the young man has taken to venture into farming.

The DCE said she and the District Directorate of Agriculture will be monitoring him from time to time and support him with the needed resources to make him succeed and to also serve as encouragement to other youth in the District.

The District Chief Executive appealed to the youth to take agriculture as a business to serve as security for their economic survival and development. She mention planting for food and jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) and District Chamber of Agriculture Commerce and Technology (DCACT) as measures put in place by government to encourage youth into agriculture which they should take advantage of it.

Getting more youth into farming would not only assure them of sustainable income and improved livelihood but help the nation to achieve food security, she added.
