Zorh gets teachers bungalows as MCE commissions four separate self contains
The people of Zorh, a Community in the Suhum Municipality sung and danced in wild jubilation after four separate teachers bungalows were handed over to them by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs Margaret Darko Darkwah yesterday, 17th December, 2018.

Formerly, teachers have to commute from Akorabo and Suhum on commercial motorbikes (okada) to attend school. A situation which is the major cause of the poor academic performance of the school.


The Assembly Member of the area, Hon James Larweh Samoah addressing the mammoth gathering expressed his profound gratitude to the Municipal Assembly and the Hon MCE for such a relief which seeks to improve the educational standards of the students in his electoral area. 

"One of my dreams has just come into reality", he stated. He admitted that the community has over the years put pressure on him for this all important project but has never seen the light. "Help me thank the Hon MCE and the NPP Government for considering Zorh". The Hon Assemblymember requested.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Quaye Sowah commended the Hon MCE for taking education as her priority. 

According to her, she has witnessed the sod cutting and commissioning of educational infrastructure facilities since she assumed office not long ago in the Municipality and she is convinced that the Hon MCE seeks to improve the educational standards of her Municipality. 

She advised teachers to take advantage of this provision to help these our little ones to match those in the towns and cities as far as education is concerned. She stressed that she wouldn't tolerate absenteeism what so ever now that they don't have any excuse. 

She hinted of meeting with the stakeholders to set targets and discuss on relevant measures to be put in place to ensure the achievement of the set targets. 

The Hon Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs Margaret Darko Darkwah admitting that her priority as a representative of the President is indeed the development of education which of course is rooted in the ideologies of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo hence the introduction of the free senior high school. 

"The NPP government would not leave any stone unturned when it comes to educational matters", she emphasised. 

She advised the pupils to take their studies seriously so that they can benefit from NPP Government's free SHS and also advised the teachers to adopt all possible measures to improve the educational standards of the students of Zorh and it's neighbouring communities. 

She pleaded that now that they are going to live with their students in the same community, she wished they can organize after school learning activities for the sake of improving their academic standards. 


She considered the community's farming occupation and advised parents to take good care of the teachers who have become part of them. She pleaded with them that they also have to play their part as parents to the benefits of these our little ones.

The constituency NPP Chairman, Mr Frederick Ofosu added that the facility given to the teachers must be seen as the property of those who occupy them and cultivate the culture of maintenance to increase the lifespan of the facility. He entreated the people to have faith and patience in the NPP Government for it is the only political party when in Government can help develop the human and infrastructural resources.

The District Police Commander assured the teachers who have just been domiciled in the community to feel secured for his outfit has put adequate measures in place for their security. 

He added that he is aware of the community's comportment and commends them for that but should the black sheep misbehave, his outfit would not hesitate to bring them to order.

The Head Teacher of the school on behalf of his colleagues expressed their appreciation to the Suhum Municipal Chief executive and the Assembly for this kind gesture all in the betterment of the teacher. 

He assured the Hon MCE, the Municipal Director of Education and the entire Community that since they have thought of given them place to have a sound sleep, they are going to put up all their best to improve the academic standards of the students.

Not quite long ago the Hon MCE handed over some three school buildings to Okanta, Suhum Abisim and Amenhyia Communities respectively which were sod cut and commissioned under the one and half years in office of Hon Margaret Darko Darkwah funded with the Assembly's Internally Generated Fund (IGF). A record which is classified as unprecedented in the Municipality. Today another unprecedented project has been commissioned. Four separate teachers bungalows built with the Assembly's common fund. 

Tourists and the media are invited to Zorh to see for themselves the edifice. Zorh is located after Akorabo when travelling from Suhum.
