The move forms part of efforts by the Assembly to support farmers who have been registered under the government’s flagship ‘Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD)’ programme.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mr. Samuel Oduro Frimpong said the future of the country remains how the country makes agricultural attractive by way of interventions such as the provision of these inputs and the technical support being rendered through the directorate of which the government has ensure the recruitment of additional extension officers across the country.

He added that the Government of Ghana under the Ministry of Agriculture has provided the coconut seedlings to be supplied to farmers across the country to promote the Agric sector and also help farmers involve themselves well in coconut plantation.

Mr. Frimpong therefore encouraged the farmers to take care of the coconut seedlings and plant them for the benefit of the country and themselves.

He assured the beneficiary farmers that inspectors and monitoring teams will be coming round to inspect and monitor the improvement of the coconut seedlings.
