According to him an independent investigation by his office will enable him have control over his work and would eliminate the burden of wondering whether the work given to somebody will be done or not.

According to him, many Ghanaians including members from both sides of the political divide, NPP and NDC wished his office does not exist.

Speaking to Citi Fm and Daily Graphic in an interview, the Special Prosecutor who is yet to prosecute a single case said he certainly needs a full complement of an investigative staff to execute his mandate.

He said he needs about four streams of investigators to enable the office effectively conduct its function.

He accused some members of his staff of going against his instruction when they went behind him to present unapproved budget of GHS30 million to the Finance Minister.

On whether he needs a bigger office space to operate, Mr Amidu said efforts are underway to secure a new office space even though he is not happy with the slow pace and the procurement processes.

President Akufo appointed the then citizen vigilante Martin Amidu as Ghana’s first Special Prosecutor who subsequently received a consensus Parliamentary approval to help fight the canker of corruption.
