Prez launches ‘Operation Clean Your Frontage’ campaign
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has launched a new initiative dubbed “operation clean your frontage” as his government steps up efforts to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

The initiative is expected to help the citizenry of Accra responsible for cleaning their frontage, while, service providers take care of domestic waste collection and other services in the capital.

Speaking at the Launch at the Independence Square in Accra, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his vision to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa, adding that various measures have been put in place, including logistical resources that have been assembled by various key actors to make the project a success.


He called for attitudinal change by becoming more responsible for what happen in the surroundings.

He charged various private businesses and organizations to support the government in its quest to promote proper sanitation in the capital and Ghana as a whole.

President Akufo-Addo seized the opportunity to commend the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey, the sanitation and local government ministries for the desire and commitment to drive home government’s vision of improving sanitation.


The Greater Accra Region Minister, Mr Henry Quartey, on his part disclosed that a lot has been done within the past few months to ensure the full realization of the “Let’s Make Accra Work” campaign which, he says, will go a long way in achieving the President’s vision.

According to the Minister, security, incessant siting of buildings on water ways, irresponsible driving, wrong establishment of lorry station, abandonment of vehicles on roads, trading on roads and footbridges were some of the major challenges that is hampering his outfit’s move to make Accra clean.

He called on all to join the campaign by cleaning their frontage in order to achieve success of the project.

Mr Joseph Siaw Agyapong, the Executive Chair of Zoomlion Ghana Limited has disclosed his outfit’s readiness to distribute about 100, 000 dustbins to various household in Accra.


He believes the free dustbins will make waste collection easier for service providers in dealing with waste generated in various households.
