According to the outgoing Sanitation and Water Resources Minister, the primary aim of the Ministry is to formulate policy and develop guidelines for waste disposal.

He made this remarks at the meet the press series at the Information Ministry, when Journalists wanted to know the role the Minister played in the crusade against waste.

Mr. Joseph Kofi Adda further pointed out that the various Assemblies in Ghana are supposed to dispose of twenty percent waste generated, whiles the Ministry assist waste service providers to dispose eighty percent.

When it becomes critical the Ministry assists like we did in Accra, for six illegal dump waste places, we sponsored for the collection of wastes; we got resources for service providers to clear the waste when service providers who were supposed to do that could not do it because they said the assembly owe them some money which we had not paid.

“It is not the responsibility of the Minister to be driving waste collection cars, tricycle and wheelbarrow, we may push wheelbarrow once a while around the Ministry and Nima on clean up exercise”, he lamented.
