Bono East Minister visits Kintampo
Bono East Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Atebubu-Amanteng constituency, Kofi Amaakohene, visited the Kintampo Municipality on a day familiarization tour.

The Regional Minister and his entourage were welcomed to the Municipality by the staff of the Assembly headed by Michael Sarkodie Baffoe, Municipal Chief Executive.

The Minister was at palace of the Acting President of the Mo Traditional Council, Nana Yaw Abobirim Dompo II. He briefed them of various policies and programmes by the government including the Free Senior High School and Planting for Food and Jobs aimed improving social and economic welfare of the citizenry.

Nana Yaw Abobirim Dompo II also used the opportunity to ask for the construction of some major road such as the Kintampo Town roads, Kintampo – New-longoro road and Kintampo-Busuama-Soronuase road. He also lamented the divisions of the Mo people across other districts and asked for the creation of a new district which its capital at New-longoro while adding that, a letter has been dispatched to that effect. He called for expedited action and possibly an audience with the president. The Abontrubu ditch and the development of existing facilities was also on his list for attention.


                                   

The Regional Minister said the call for a new district was in the right direction but added that a new constituency was to be sought for first to pave way for the new district.

He acknowledged the efforts of chiefs in the attainment of the Bono East Region and said work had begun in the Regional Coordinating Council while calling for the support of Traditional rules as he competes with the other five (5) Regions created. He also announced the good performance of the Bono East Region as recently declared as the best performing newly created region by Mr. Dan Botwe. Mr. Kofi Amoakohene promised to do his best to facilitate the development process in truthfulness even though funds were hard to come by.

He said with the offices of urban roads and feeder roads coming into being, road problems would be tacked as well as the Abontrubu ditch. He asked the Acting President to make ready a parcel of land for development projects and the preservation of tourist facilities. The Regional Minister finally presented drinks and cash to the Acting President of the Mo Traditional Council and the elders.

At the Kyeremankomah’s palace, the chief Nana Effah Guakro IV was full of praise for Mr. Kofi Amoakohene. Nana Kyeremankomah lauded the decentralization of government but regretted recent disturbances and insecurity in Kintampo. He called for the resolution of conflicts and ensurance of peace and unity in Kintampo. Nana Effah Guakro IV also asked for the constraction of Kintampo town roads, a facelift for the Kintampo College of Health and the use of the Kintampo Hospital as the Regional Hospital.

He called for political tolerance and congratulated all for their efforts in bringing into existence, the Bono East Region.

In response to Nana Kyeremankomah hene, the Regional Minister said he was on a familiarization tour of the newly created region as its maiden Regional minister and thanked Nanaom for their efforts in bringing about the region. Mr. Kofi Amoakohene resolved to the ensuance of peace and unity and called for to be circumspect in their actions and utterances in the era of the internet as this could hinder our quest to develop our tourism sector.

He said protecting lives and property was paramount for him and asked for the allocation of land for development and promised to work on the town roads. A presentation of cash and drinks was done.

Nana Fanyinama III also welcomed the Bono East Regional Minister, Mr. Kofi Amoakohene and had Muslim prayers said for him and his entourage asking for Allah’s guidance, protection and peace. Nana Fanyinama who doubles as the President of the National Council of Wangara Chiefs and the leader of the Kintampo Council of Zongo Chiefs indicated his willingness to work and assist the Regional minister.

On his part too, he added his voice to call for the creation of a new district with capital at New-longoro and the development of the New-longoro Community School to a boarding facility. He noted the efforts of the late former vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama in tarring some town roads and asked the Regional Minster to replicate his efforts.

The Regional Minister thanked all for coming out to meet him and indicated his preparedness to service and dedication to duty. Again, he called for peace and unity and promised the construction of Kintampo town roads. He also announced the construction of the Kintampo-Prang road.

                  Heads of Departments of the Kintampo Municipal Assembly


A meeting with all Heads of Department and staff of the Kintampo Municipal Assembly was next on the Regional Minister’s agenda.

First was the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe to address the gathering and explain the reason for the Regional Minister’s visit as one to acquaint himself with developments in the municipality while welcoming Mr. Kofi Amoakohene to the Municipality.

The Regional Minster noted that, the new regions were created through a constitutional Instrument signed on Wednesday, 13th February 2019 to enhance development and improve the quality of life of people thus placing huge responsibilities on minsters and Heads of Departments. Mr. Kofi Amoakohene said it was time to work together to improve the standards of living. Offer people with decent housing, quality health care. Good roads and better education.


He asked Heads of Departments to be innovative and adopt to new work ethics while discarding absenteeism and laziness. He indicated that, a lot could be achieved with improved revenue mobilization, enhanced security and the strengthening of tourism. He reminded the gathering of the six service delivery standards of the Local Government Service and charged all to be responsive to the needs of the people through sharing of ideas. He also indicated his open door administrative style and cautioned everyone that, “We cannot afford to fail the President and Nananom”.

Consequently, the Regional Minister engage in a closed door Meeting with the executive members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Kintampo Constituency before taking leave to the Municipality.
