Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Greater Accra Regional Minister has called on the chiefs and people of Oyibi to shun partisanship, petty squabbles, back-biting and all negative tendencies that impede progress and development.

He said the community can develop rapidly if the people unite and move with cohesion.

Nii Afotey Agbo made the call in an address read for him at the inauguration of the Oyibi, Nanoman, Seduase, Bawaleshie and Gonsee Area Council (ONSBAC) at Oyibi, in the Kpone Katmanso Districit of the Greater Accra Region, on Sunday.

ONSBAC is one of the four Area Councils in the district and the third to be inaugurated. The inauguration was to introduce the council to the public and also to call for the support of the people.

The Regional Minister tasked the councils to play expanded roles of championing the collection of non-traditional revenue sources.

Nii Afotey Agbo expressed the hope that the strategic location of the councils will be conducive for them to collect more revenues, which has remained elusive to the Assembly.

Alhaji Antie Tetteh, District Chief Executive for Kpone Katamanso said the issue of land guards in the district was a major concern to the assembly.

This has become rampant in the middle and the northern sectors of the district, he said, adding that, the multiple sale of land to different people was breeding land guards, who later become armed robbers.

Our actions and inactions are causing insecurity in the country yet, we turn round to blame governments and its structures, Alhaji Tetteh added.

Nii Borlabi Kukubi Okanshan VI, Oyibi Mantse, called on the government to provide the town with a clinic, market and technical school to enable the community to live decent lives.

Mr Alfred Larnyoh, Secretary of Kpone Bawaleshie Interim Ruling Council also called for infrastructural development in the district.

Mr Abednego Afotey, Outgoing Assemblyman of Oyibi, who is also the Chairman of the Oyibi Area Council, assured that the council would work hard to achieve its revenue target.
