A modern clinic is being constructed at Gomoa Brofo in the Gomoa West District in the Central Region to help address the health needs of the people in the district.

The project, being executed by the district assembly, is being funded by the Office of the President through the initiative of the Gomoa West District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah.

The assembly, through the efforts of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa West Constituency, Mr Francis Kojo Arthur, has secured another funding for the construction of a National Health Insurance Scheme office at Gomoa Dawurampong to cater for the people of the area.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah, who made this known to the Daily Graphic in an interview on Tuesday, said the contract for the project had been awarded to M/S Ruthra Construction Limited at a tender price of GH¢181, 171.94, and it is expected to be completed within six months.

He stated that the assembly had also applied for special funding from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for the construction of a clinic with nurses’ quarters at Eshiem Mozano.

According to him, in order to reach all food vendors in the district to ensure safe and hygienic foods for the people in the district, the assembly, in collaboration with NIADO Ghana Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, is undertaking medical screening of food vendors in the district.

He explained that the tender process had been completed for the extension of electricity from Mumford to Ayensuano, adding that as soon as the assembly received its share of the District Development Fund (DDF), the contractor on the project would be issued the award letter to commence work.

He mentioned that in order to stabilise power fluctuations at a cold store at Apam, the Ministry of Energy had installed a transformer at the cold store to ensure the efficient running of the facility.

Touching on education, he indicated that the government had allocated one senior high school to the district, which would be situated on a 10-acre land at Abora.

He stressed that the project, which has been awarded to Rinicard and Paabadu Construction Limited, would be funded by the Central Regional Development Commission (CEDECOM).
