Construction of lockable stores progresses construction of lockable stores at the Aburi market by the Akwapim South District is progressing steadily.

The one-storey 28 lockable stores being financed through the District Assembly common fund (DACF) are meant to provide safe and convenient place for the traders to do business and keep their wares under lock and key. By far, it completion of the stores will significantly reduce stress of always conveying their goods to the house and back. The project is already at advanced stage and contractors are working feverishly to complete it.

Mr. Winston Kwadwo Affari Djan, District Chief Executive indicated that some works has already been completed including Ahwerase market stalls and provision of sheds at the Kitase market showing the commitment the assembly has attached to improving economic activities in the area. He is confident the gesture will be extended to some selected towns in the district as soon as funds are available.

Mr. Affari Djan said the district is already feeling the impacts of rapid population and infrastructure expansions in close by municipalities in the Greater Accra Region including the Ga East, Adenta , and La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipalities some of which shares boundaries with the Akwapim South District.

As such the assembly is determined to put its economic infrastructure in place to take advantage of increased economic activities in the area which the assembly anticipates in few years to come.
