Members of the Kwahu Afram Plains North District Assembly confirmed Mr Windham Emil Afram, the  President’s nominee, as District Chief Executive (DCE) at an emergency meeting at Donkorkrom.

A total of 33 out of the 48 assembly members gave him the nod, representing 76 per cent, while 10 members voted against him.

The election was conducted by the Deputy Eastern Regional Electoral Officer, Mr Eric Mensah-Bonsu. 

Mr Afram thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to cooperate with all to implement development projects in the various communities to raise the living standard of the people.

Mr Afram, 46, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a Master of Business (MBA) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He had worked as Health Services Administrator at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for 10 years and was also the former Eastern Regional Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, commended the assembly members for confirming the nominee.

She advised the assembly to cooperate with the DCE to enhance development in the district.

Ms. Frimpong advised Mr Afram to guard against victimization of his opponents and cooperate with all the assembly members to mobilize the available human and financial resources to implement government’s policies and programmes to move the district forward.
