A 25 year old man who allegedly posed as a medical doctor and offered treatment to people has been grabbed by the Adenta police.

A 25 year old man who allegedly posed as a medical doctor and offered treatment to people has been grabbed by the Adenta police.

Marssey Terry Frances was said to have also introduced himself as a medical student from the University of Ghana Medical School when the police nabbed him.

Upon a search on him, a doctors’ stethoscope, HIV test cards, drugs for diabetes , sexual weakness and other assorted medicines were found on him.

According to sources, he had been acting as a medical doctor working with the Korle -Bu Teaching hospital for some years now and as such had been treating many people in his vicinity.

He was arrested when the Adenta police got a hint of the activities of quack doctors in the area and were looking out for such persons.

The Adenta District Commander, ASP Stephen K. Ahiatafu, stated that on December 14,2009, Marssey Terry Frances was invited to the station to answer charges of his involvement in a fraud issues.

"During interrogation , he then introduced himself as a medical doctor with the Korle Bu Teaching hospital to the investigator.

The district commander noted that the station officer, who was listening whilst the interrogation was going on, questioned him again on his profession.

"Sensing danger, suspect Terry immediately withdrew his statement that he was a practising doctor but a medical student at Legon".

The commander said this made the police more suspicious, compelling them to ask him to prove his status, which he failed.

He said the police then mounted a search in his room which led to the discovery of a doctor’s stethoscope, HIV test cards, a doctors apron and an assortment of drugs.

Some victims of Marrsey’s tactics have been to the police station to testify.

His girlfriend and landlord also confirmed that they knew Marssey Terry Frances a practising medical doctor with the Ridge hospital.

According to Terry’s girlfriend (name withheld) , she fell in love with the suspect when he introduce himself to her as a medical doctor when she was on admission at the Ridge hospital.

"I met Terry at the Ridge hospital when I was admitted there months ago. He assisted me in getting medical attention and later introduced  and later introduced himself to me as a doctor".

Terry’s girlfriend disclosed that he later called her on the phone and proposed love to her, which she accepted, adding,"I only accepted the proposal because he said he was a medical doctor working at the hospital, which I also believed it".

The landlord on his part noted that " he has been prescribing medicines to people and we all know he is a doctor".

The Adenta district commander has therefore appealed to people who have fallen victim to his dubios act to report to the station.
