Mr Godact Hlordzi, Assin Foso Divisional Police Commander has appealed to the Department of Highways to construct four speed ramps in the Assin Nyankomasi township, to curb the motor accidents in the area.
   

Speaking at a road safety campaign at Foso, he said the rampant road accident in the town, especially some portions of the road in the area which needs immediate attention.

Mr Lhordzi, who is also the Chairman of the District Road Safety Commission said, from April to December this year, a total of nine motor accidents were recorded, claiming eight lives and one serious injury and urged the department of Highways to save the situation.

He charged drivers to be cautious on the road, especially during the Christmas yuletide.

Mr Joseph Blay, a Magistrate at Assin Foso advised drivers not to over-speed and over-load their vehicles, adding that, "You must maintain your vehicles regularly since the law would not spare any careless driver.

Mr K. Tetteh, Chairman of Local GPRTU said a tax force has been set up to ensure that vehicles are properly maintained and that those found not to be road worthy would not be allowed to operate.

He expressed concern over the deplorable state of the road and appealed to the authorities to help rehabilitate it.
