The Upper Denkyira West District Chief Executive,Mr Ackah Yankey has announced that by the end of December 2009 contract will be awarded for the construction of the Assembly’s administration block and residential buildings.

The Upper Denkyira District West Chief Executive,Mr Ackah Yankey has announced that by the end of December 2009 contract will be awarded for the construction of  the Assembly’s administration block and residential buildings. 

He stated that land is being acquired for the project,and invitation for bids have also been called for.

Giving an update on status of some projects and programmes ongoing in the district, he said the Community Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP) is supporting the Assembly to build the following school structures;one three classroom block with store, office and four seater KVIP at Amenase,one three classroom block,store, office and a four seater KVIP at Asuadei/Adeade and a one classroom block,store, office and four seater KVIP at Diaso.

The projects which have gone through the procurement process have been awarded, and very soon construction work will start at the various sites.

The CBRDP Secretariat is also going to support the completion of Area council projects at Amobaka, Adeade and Jameso Nkwanta.  These are KG projects which have reached various levels of construction.

Currently the Community Water and Sanitation Agency is implementing five small town water systems at Ayanfuri, Diaso and Jameso Nkwanta, on one hand, are being sponsored by the World Bank (IDA), and Maudaso/Amenase, and Ntom/Bethelehem on the other hand are also being supported by the European Union. 

While under all IDA sponsored projects, the World Bank contributes 90% of cost of the project, the District Assembly and beneficiary Communities also contribute 10%.

He stated that Ayanfuri has paid up 100% of her contribution and urge the Assembly members of Diaso and Jameso Nkwanta to endeavour to pay off their dues. The IDA sponsored small towns water system are expected to be completed by the end of November, 2009.

The EU sponsored small town water systems at Maudaso and Ntom is progressing, except that one of the pipe lines has been destroyed through the construction of a playing field for the town. The Assembly is trying to resolve the issue.  The project is going on as scheduled.
