Regional Minister visit Tano South Municipality
The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Evans Opoku Bobie paid a working visit to the Tano South Municipality, accompanied by some regional directors.

At a mini durbar held at the Bechem palace Nana Fosu Gyeabour Akoto II, the Omanhene of Bechem Traditional Council charged the MCE and the Minister to play a leading role by sensitizing the general public to ensure the region is created to enhance development.

In a short but impressive address, the MCE for Tano South Hon. Collins Offinam Takyi said the visit of the Minister to the municipality will make Nananom to interact with him and also gives opportunity for the Minister to explain government policies and programmes.

The Regional Minister stressed that the purpose of his visit is to explain government policies to stakeholders in the municipality and thanked the Municipal Assembly for implementing the policies of government to improve the living standards of the people.



He said government has partnered with the private sector to embark on the construction of toilet facilities in the municipality which will eventually help to reduce sanitation issues in the municipality and makes residents to have a better place of convenient.

On roads, he said Bechem--Techimantia and Derma roads have been approved for tarring in 2019 and hinted that the roads will be given to the contractor by government after the government has completed the procurement processes. He stressed that the failure on the part of government to tare Bechem-Techimantia and Derma roads in 2017 was that government did not received documentations on the roads but said government is working assiduously to secure fund for the construction of the roads.

On Agricultural sector, he stated the introduced of planting for food and jobs to reduce high rate of unemployment issues confronting the country and emphasized that the planting for food and jobs programme has also helped farmers to increase yields and hinted that government will continue to support farmers with the necessary farm inputs to produce more food to feed the country and export the surpluses to the other African Countries for sale.



On the creation of Ahafo Region, he said government has finished all documentations and given green light to the electoral commission to create the region and stressed that he will do all it takes to support Nananom to carry out the creation of Ahafo Region’s campaign. On the voter mobilization, he urged Nananom to do all they can to mobilize the legible voters to participate the referendum whenever it commences.

At Bechem Roman Catholic Church, Mr. Yaw Owusu Brempong the president of Ahafo Development Association said the association has embarked a lot of campaign on Ahafo creation in the municipality but urged stakeholders to influence their family members to participate the referendum as soon as it takes off in the Municipality. He used the occasion to explain a sample of the ballot papers to the participants.



The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister in a short but impressive address wished all a happy Christmas and said since he was part of the processes that led to the ushering of 1992 constitution and hinted that the creation of Ahafo Region started fifty (50) years ago by the chiefs and people of Ahafo and urged all legible voters to plan well to participate the referendum which is yet to be commenced in the Municipality by the electoral commission.

He said there is an alarming rate of rural urban migration in the Ahafo Areas of the Brong Ahafo Region and stressed that the creation of the region will go a long way to address the menace.
