Obuasi Sikakrom Association supports new library
The Obuasi Sikakrom Association based in London, UK has donated 41 boxes of books to the newly opened library in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

The books are to stock the newly opened library in the Municipality to assist reading and learning.

The Vice Chairman of the Sikakrom Association Mr Issac Asamoah cut the sod and presented the books to the Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Elijah Adansi – Bonah.

Speaking during the function, Mr Asamoah disclosed that even though the facility has an internet which is not functioning due to the inability to pay for the monthly subscription, the Association has taken it upon itself to assist in the payment to ensure the facility becomes more functional.

Handing over the books to the Librarian, Hon Adansi –Bonah thanked the donors for their benevolence towards the library, adding the gesture will help instill the culture of reading among the youth once again.

He advised parents and the general public to patronize the library, stating that it will henceforth serve as alternative place for children and the general public to make good use of their leisure time.

Reading will also expand the scope of knowledge of the youth in different fields of life and help them to deal with different situations as life may present.

Presents were the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Obuasi East Constituency Dr. Boakye Yiadom, the Presiding Member (PM) Hon Faustina Amissah who represented the MP for the Obuasi West Constituency Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng.
