SEKYERE S: Be crusaders for “Planting for Food and Jobs” initiative – DCE

He said the initiative seeks to bring economic improvement through agriculture; reducing unemployment and significantly impact on the livelihoods of Ghanaians.

According to the DCE, the assembly has taken delivery of 3000 bags of fertilizers, 765 mini bags of Obaatanpa maize seedlings, 17 bags of Agra rice seed and 26 sachets of tomatoes seedlings for distribution to farmers.

This, she indicated is a positive beginning adding that if only the assembly members will get fully involved to whip up interest among the people in their various electoral areas, the program will be very successful.

‘’I urge honorable members to encourage the farmers, especially the youth in their respective areas to take advantage of this economic venture to make meaningful livelihoods’’

Speaking with Ghanadistricts.com,  Mad. Cathrine Reckling said, apart from the planting for food and jobs program, a thirteen member committee had been constituted and inaugurated to supervise the government policy on “one district one factory” and “one million dollars, one constituency” program to open an employment opportunities to the teeming youth who are jobless.

The DCE stated that, the committee which was formed has proposed the following projects for considerations which include fertilizer factory, cassava processing, soya bean processing, fruit processing, assembling of solar energy panels and rice milling factory.

Mad. Cathrine Reckling, assured that his doors were opened to investors and businessmen who want to partner with the Assembly to speed up development in the district.
