Addressing various stakeholders including the media, assembly members, disability groups, unit committee members among others at a workshop in Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality, CDD noted that, even though the 1992 Constitution of Ghana allows citizens to be involved in the planning and budgeting process at the various assembly in the country, it is not duly followed by the assemblies.

CDD noted that it is so because many people think it is solely the duty of their assembly members who obviously are their representatives at the assembly   so their presence is no more needed. However, this must change to allow for broader inputs in the planning and budgeting by the assembly.

And this is what CDD Ghana in collaboration with OSIWA seek to achieve by sensitizing stakeholders including the community members to actively participate in partnering with the district Assemblies in order to implement activities by the assembly thereby further deepening decentralization.

The workshop also equipped participants with knowledge on plan and how the budget process is carried out.

Meanwhile, the participants have agreed that even though they are now aware, the assemblies still have a lot to do to produce better document to guide their delivery for the people.

Project Coordinator, Ms Adeline Mensah told participant to be involved in planning and budgeting at the assembly since it forms part of their duties as well.
