The project, which begun during the previous Kuffour’s administration was abandoned by the NDC administration 2009 due to the lack of funds.

However, addressing members at its first ordinary meeting on Friday, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Mr Andrews Teddy Ofori assured that funds will soon be allocated by the assembly to complete the project.

The MCE, who described the current state of the project as worrying, nonetheless, expressed hopes that the assembly was still eager to ensure its completion to help fulfill the current NPP-administration’s promise to ensure that District Assemblies fully participate in sports development and promotion to facilitate in raising young talents to feed our various national teams.

Mr. Ofori was optimistic that the assembly’s decision to inject huge resources to develop sports infrastructure will not go waste but rather help the municipality compete both locally and internationally in the aspect of sports.

Presiding Member of the Assembly, Leonard Heh, on his part, cited the assembly’s huge indebtedness to the contractor working on the project as reason for the undue delay, adding that, the assembly is at the moment set to collaborate with various stakeholders and philanthropist in the area to get the project completed.
