The initiative is in tandem with government’s industrial transformation agenda.

Industrial hubs like the WestPark act as platforms that make it easier to do business. It has modern factories, warehouses and offices, reliable water, gas and electricity supply and sited near markets.

The Trade Minister was happy that eleven months later, heavy machines were already moving earth at the first such Industrial Parks and one of the world’s leading companies, Bosch, has already opened a Sales and Services centre on the site.

He was confident that the WestPark Industrial Enclave would continue to attract investments by domestic and international companies alike, in manufacturing, processing or distribution of agricultural products.

The Minister continued that “This is the right time to invest in Ghana and the right time in the Western Region. Ghana has for the past decades been a beacon of stability and transparency. This year we have taken steps to position Ghana as a centre of excellence and one of the world’s fastest growing markets”.

“I expect the WestPark to accelerate the industrial transformation of Shama and Takoradi areas. These areas have already gained from large multi-billion investments in gas, power, port and rail infrastructure”, he noted.

Western Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Afriyie, was very hopeful that the Industrial Park at Shama would lead to the generation of revenue to develop other areas in the region.

He assured all companies which desire to take advantage of the benefits of the WestPark Industrial area to believe that they had made the right choice adding “Efforts will be made by our administration to push their projects to expected direction”.

The Regional Minister thanked the ‘One District, One Factory’ team at the Ministry of Trade and Industry for selecting ten companies in the region for the first phase of the implementation of the initiative.
“It is our fervent belief that more projects will be rolled into the industrial park.

This will ensure speedy response to the achievements under the One District-One factory initiative”, he pointed out.
