These institutions include those that run 24-hour maternity and casualty services. The people in the metropolis are very hospitable and are always willing to assist visitors, tourists and businessmen.

Fijai Clinic has a rehabilitation facility for mentally ill-patients. Importantly, there are several industrial clinics in the district. There are in service about 18 private general medical practitioners, five private registered midwives, a total of 186 Traditional Birth Attendants (TBA) and three private medical laboratories. Substantial success has been achieved in delivering healthcare to the populace and eradicating endemic diseases.
