MUNICIPAL OBJECTIVES AND STRATEGIES
Development Focus


The Lawra Municipal Assembly’s development focus for the plan period shall be to strengthen the institutional capacity of the district, promote issues, increase the standard of the living of the people through the improvement of social amenities, revenue generation, environment management and the reduction of HIV/AIDS cases and related diseases, more so, to help in promoting the living conditions of the people through the improvement of agricultural production.


Goals, Objectives and Strategies


The table below specifies the goals of the district within the plan period, in the content of the Growth and poverty reduction strategy (GPRS) and the corresponding objectives and strategies geared towards the achievement of the stated goal.


Monitoring and Evaluation

In line with the GPRS II, the responsibility of monitoring and evaluation of the MTDP is basically the function of the DA, but should be operationalized by the DPCU, which is the technical unit of the DA.

Grass Root Monitoring

Stakeholders at the grassroots level responsible for monitoring and evaluation include community level institutional structures, namely: Unit Committees, Town/Area Councils, Traditional Authorities, Assembly Members, and decentralized/centralized departments, NGOs, etc

The monitoring shall include a regular systematic up –dating of the district data-base of all development indicators, this shall be done annually.


The Municipal Planning Co-ordinating Unit (DPCU)


The Municipal Planning Co-Ordinating Unit (DPCU) will assess the impact of all programmes /projects on the beneficiaries at least once a year and after the planed period. This assessment will focus on whether the projects have any positive change on the economic and social life of the target groups. Interventions will be designed to correct any adverse impact discovered as stated earlier.
 

Criteria for Assessment

This assessment shall take into consideration the following:

  • The attainment of the projects objectives
  • Achievement of projects purpose
  • Cost effectiveness of projects outputs
  • Target groups access to the project benefits
  • Number of beneficiaries who have access to the projects benefits
