Prestea-Huni Valley District forms part of twenty two (22) Metropolitan, Municipalities and Districts in the Western Region of Ghana. The Administrative Capital of the District is Prestea. The District was established by Legislative Instrument (L. I) 1840 and shares boundaries with Wassa Amenfi Central to the west, to the east with Wassa East District, to the south with Tarkwa – Nsueam Municipal and to the north with Wassa Amenfi East District.


The population of the district according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 159,304 with 80,493 males and 78,811 females.
